The title of this blog is taken from the hook of the ever so talented artist Alice Smith. Perhaps, she was reading my mind when she wrote that song. Or maybe she checked out the iPOD's of millions of listeners who voices still aren't being heard. Where is the balance?
Why is the industry so overly saturated with Lil Wayne and every wanna be Lil Wayne? Why is Souljah Boy a millionaire? The combination that perplexes me the most is by far Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj??? Really Robin Thicke??
Should there only be Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Norah Jones blasting on the radio? No, not all. But is it fair to only play Young Jeezy, Rhianna, and Drake? Oh, I forgot these artists appeal to the masses.
(Sighs deeply) OH, MEDIA.

ReplyDeleteMajor Kudos--- Most of the mainstream music that I hear today is a major disappointment. It just seems to be an overkill of sex and a lack in substance and thought provoking messages. Not knocking those who are making their living on the exploitation of bodies and minds, but someone has to call you out lol. I suppose that as time progresses that the industries choices will only get worse. And the sad part is that we accept it. "I suppose, we all just want to be successful," but is selling out really the alternative? I remember when R&B was R&B, music played on the radio really possessed soul. And now all that "soul" from the past is becoming the next best producers biggest hit and doesn't posses any of the heart that went into the making of that borrowed bass line. All I want to know is "what is really going on with today's music industry?"
